Pandemic heritage

The world was submitted to the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020. All countries had to take strict measures to combat the virus. The main one was complete social isolation. A vaccine that provides the cure and immunization of the coronavirus has not been certified until the current scenario. Many drugs are in the development and in testing stages. However, until the current scenario, social isolation is the main measure used, as this avoids contact between people and the spread of the disease.

At the beginning of isolation, I thought it would be a brief stop and that we would soon return. My classes were subjected to a week’s recess, my friends and family were released from work and many struggled to stay at home and safe. However, time passed and the pandemic only worsened. Many cases of death and many reports were reported daily. Many of my acquaintances have been contaminated. Some suffered mild symptoms and others were hospitalized in serious condition. We saw clearly that the pandemic was a serious problem. In addition to being able to bring various damage to health, there was a lot of apprehension about financial and social life. We can closely observe many people losing their jobs and others afraid of having any physical relationship. That is, fear was impregnated in all environments.

In addition, fear spread in many different ways. The issue was being disseminated in various spheres of communication and politics. In many cases, the information was not concordant. This generated several questions during social isolation. In the first few months, I was often stressed by the subject, after all, I was disbelieving of any source of information, and checking and understanding the data was the routine for all that was the pandemic. So I had two options: I kept myself in a constant state of ignorance of the facts or I would check everything I read and heard. Over time, many solid and respected organizations and structures have proved incompetent and outdated. The most obvious examples of this were: the lack of commitment of the federal government to technical issues. Everything so far has been treated by the executive branch as a political game, an obstacle to achieving a greater goal, the 2022 elections. From this, I noticed that I must follow guidelines from those who actually have scientific interests, independent of any political position.

Today, after 9 months of pandemic and isolation, I imagine myself in the world without social isolation. I miss the freedom I enjoyed so much. I could go out anywhere at any time. I believe this will be possible soon. However, I have learned a lot during these nine months and intend to use this knowledge in the post-pandemic world. I believe that after the pandemic, people would be more careful about health. After all, all people had that introduce sanitary measures on your routines. Besides that, I believe that people would be to had more respect for the importance of science. Because of the pandemic scenario we all remember that human beings just keep evolving, alive, and healthy because we learn and use our knowledge to overcome our obstacles.
